New Project~

For the past two and a half months I’ve been trying to learn how to make eyes. At one point I did so much sanding I developed thick calluses on my fingertips. It was so strange to not be able to feel the texture of things I touch or pick up.

After lots of trial and error I’ve finally made the first batch where I’m happy with the intensity of the colours. There’s still alot of things I need to improve such as the neatness of the lines, the neatness of the rim, trying to reduce the bubbles and dust that falls in, and for some reason, every pair has uncentred pupils (this is much more obvious as soon as I try them in a doll…). So I still have some practicing to go but I’m happy they are finally starting to look good!

Hello Artemis

My Michele has arrived, I really love this version’s outfit and style X3. Eventually I will swap him to a girl body so I’ve named her Artemis.

My camera’s screen broke. It will take one month to fix, but at least it’s still under warranty.

Happy New Year, although it’s past Easter now =w=

Had a small meet yesterday at the Royal Botanic Gardens. I tried to edit the photos to look a bit more like film this time.

I’ve also opened an Instagram account, let’s give it a try (https://www.instagram.com/moonteahouse/). It seems like it compresses my photos, but I see more and more people using it, oh well >-<

Doll Meet

A small meetup held on the weekend. The stained glass window photo was taken at Queen Victoria Building, and the rest of the photos were taken at The Strand Arcade. Both are very beautiful old buildings in Sydney. Usually there are no lights on the handrails, but they have been put up for Christmas :)

Charm tests

Waiting for them to dry before I put on a final clear coat :)

I think they turned out very well, even the bottom one where I accidentally destroyed the details I was able to salvage by painting them back in.

Right now they’re fragile but I’m hoping a clear coat will strengthen them.

Meet at Annual Doll Fair

Went to a traditional doll fair yesterday to see if there was anything interesting to buy. The only thing I ended up buying were eye sizers which I’ve been looking for anyway. Still it was a large fair and since there were many stores selling antiques there may be something that catches my eye next time.

We took some quick photos before leaving on the front lawn. The two silk dresses worn by Mami and Lieselotte were actually bought at the fair. They were made for traditional porcelain dolls but fit surprisingly well.
