Vintage Bus and Mirazozo

January 26th was Australia day ^^
From 10:30AM to 5PM there were these vintage buses that ran throughout the Sydney CBD. Riding on them was by donation, we ended up getting on a red and green one. The inside was so old the floor was cracked looking, there was this string running along the side with a sign that said you had to pull it to signal for the driver to stop at the next stop, and of course there was no aircon (it’s summer here). It was so cool that you got on through the back, and there was a handrail near the door like in those movies where you jump on *-*. Before that there was a blue and white one, and a green and cream one, both of which we missed. We were actually trying to get to the Mirazozo near the Opera House and saw the buses by chance, but when we got there the line was really long so we decided to go back the next day morning.

Unfortunately we got there the next morning and the line was even longer orz
Since it was the last day we had to wait. The Mirazozo is a giant inflatable sculpture. There are no lights on the inside, all the colour is from the sunlight shining through pieces of plastic in the walls. It was so colourful my camera had a hard time capturing the whole range. The really bright red parts would show up as yellow, and the bright coloured blue and green lines would turn white. It was really interesting being inside *-*. (Shoes were not allowed)

I’ve been really lazy lately because it’s been so hot, and we’re not allowed to install air conditioners in our apartment TT__TT, so no new outfits for a little while.

Animania 2010

Attended Animania this weekend ^^. Animania is another manga and anime convention in Sydney.

This year there was a makeshift lightbox next to the doll table, which is where the above photo was taken =3. Makeshift because it was pretty much made out of cardboard and paper. But as you can see the results look quite nice~

There was also a photo competition and masquerade competition, which I’ll update my journal for later!

And a bit of cosplay photos. The venue was the Australian Technology Park. The inside doesn’t look as nice as Town Hall, however the lighting turned out suprisingly well. Unfortunately I didn’t get many photos cause of attending panels.

SMASH! 2010

Yesterday SMASH! 2010 was held in the Town Hall. SMASH! is a manga and anime convention that happens once a year in Sydney.

This is the BJD table. This year we also had a vendor table, but I didn’t get a good photo of them.

My camera was a success! I hand held for all of these shots and most turned out non blurry <3, which was the main reason I upgraded. Sad to see that many people I know didn't turn up. However the table was very full. But didn't get to meet many new owners, they were probably wandering around seeing the rest of the event. This time I brought Tareneko and Little Alice with me.

Though I mainly go to see the dolls, there were alot of great cosplayers and I had a go at taking some photos. Discovered that my lens doesn’t take full body shots in crowded places which is a shame =(. I was already standing back quite far for all of these. If I backed off any further people started walking in front of me ^^;
But what I was able to take I quite like, so I suppose this lens suits portraits well. I love how everyone I asked to take a photo of posed for me!

When I first got there, there was someone outside the entrance in a yukata playing the guitar. He was probably there to make waiting a bit easier as the line was huge, even though I got there an hour(?) after the opening time. But by the time I came back out to take a photo he was gone =(

My first time seeing the inside of Town Hall. It’s so beautiful~
I particularly loved the blue organ at the back of the main stage.
